A hidden gem to the east.

Old Greenwich is the easternmost neighborhood of Greenwich, Connecticut, and it is one of the most sought-after neighborhoods in the area. Sitting on a peninsula, Old Greenwich has incredible water access and a beach town vibe. The area’s history dates back to the niece of John Winthrop, Elizabeth Fones, who purchased most of the land in this area in 1640. This community is a coveted locale, rising in popularity with recent relocators who adore its old-fashioned ambiance, laid-back pace of life, and high-end amenities.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Old Greenwich is home to several beloved restaurants and shops. Old Greenwich has its own small downtown filled with shops and restaurants. A far cry from the glitz and glamour of Greenwich Avenue in downtown Greenwich, the area has a relaxed New England beach town feel.

When looking for a bite to eat in Old Greenwich, one popular option is Le Fat Poodle. This French restaurant serves a variety of international fare and classic bistro dishes alongside wine and cocktails. Applausi Osteria Toscana is a great stop for Italian fare with a contemporary and modern feel. Perfect for a quick stop, Upper Crust Bagel Company serves some of the finest bagels and sandwiches in the area, with catering available. OG Social Club is a great gastropub offering a menu full of tasty food, drinks, and desserts.

Old Greenwich also has several unique shops to check out. Back 40 Mercantile is a popular store selling fashionable clothing for men, women, and children, as well as jewelry and bath and body goods. Kings Food Market is a great choice for groceries, as it stocks local produce, meats, and cheeses, along with prepared foods.

Things to Do

Old Greenwich also has several options for activity. Whether you want to spend time out at a local event or enjoy a day out at the park, there is something fun for everyone in Old Greenwich.

For those that enjoy spending time outdoors, there are several parks and trails to explore. One popular place is Tod’s Point, a two-and-a-half-mile trail located on the southern peninsula of the neighborhood. It is the perfect place to relax in the sun, swim, and sunbathe. Innis Arden Golf Club is a great place for members to spend time golfing and playing racquet sports, and there is even a swimming pool available. Also popular in the area is Binney Park, which has soccer fields and a large pond that is perfect for ice skating in the winter. In the summers, local children can enroll in summer camps at the Old Greenwich-Riverside Community Center, a local staple in educational programming and community events.

Old Greenwich has many events to enjoy throughout the year. Binney Park hosts an annual 4th of July celebration with fireworks, and in the winter, it’s the place to be for those who love ice skating.
